Eternis was born of a dream in 1988. And today, we’re proud to be one of the top 10 aroma chemical manufacturers globally and the largest exporter from India. With our products finding their way into some of the world’s leading perfumery brands, we’ve built a strong presence in over 20 countries, backed by deep expertise, agility, and the legacy of the Mariwala Group.

Our journey of

It began with a pepper trading company, earning the family the name Mariwala. From the launch of Parachute, one of India’s most iconic brands, to breakthroughs in oleo chemicals and the founding of Marico Ltd., the momentum never stopped. Born as Hindustan Polyamides & Fibres Ltd., Eternis now carries that legacy forward – driven by innovation, sustainability, and a commitment to creating lasting value for people, partners, and the planet.

1900s

Shri Kanji Morarji founded a pepper trading company, and the family earned the moniker ‘Mariwala’ – pepper sellers.

1940s

Bombay Oil Industries was formed.

1950s

Forayed into coconut oil, marking the birth of one of India’s most iconic brands – Parachute.

1960s

Established India’s first dedicated fatty acids plant in 1962.

Emerged as pioneers in Oleo chemicals.

1980s

Entered the aroma chemicals business.

Acquired the first aroma chemical plant.

1990s

Marico Ltd. was born – one of India’s most successful FMCG brands.

Eternis was established, albeit as Hindustan Polyamides & Fibres Ltd.

Set up a second greenfield plant.
